This pathway offers students an exciting chance to engage with contemporary fine art practice and its relationship to broader cultural and creative industries. Our primary goal is for students to find their individual identities as artists and to help them locate this in the wider world in interesting and perhaps unexpected ways.

The Creative Practices programme is a Foundation Degree offered by Filton College in collaboration with the University of the West of England. Students on the Fine Art pathway will be based at our Queens Road campus in Clifton, in the centre of the city. The programme offers students an exciting chance to engage with contemporary Fine Art practice and its relationship to the wider creative industries. Our primary goal is for the students to find their creative identities as artists and to help them locate their practice in the wider world in interesting and perhaps unexpected ways.

Alongside seminars, tutorials, lectures and workshops related to their studio work, Fine Art students study modules in professional practice, exhibiting and creative contexts. Students have the opportunity to work on placements or for commissions and for some this may become an integral part of their studies. There is a materials fee of £120 per year.

Progression It is expected that students from this course will be suitably prepared for entry to employment within the creative industries. Alternatively students can progress to an Honours year at UWE
