Buses

Although the College is well served by local buses the cost of travelling can soon mount up. The College sells discounted bus tickets for Bristol First Buses. These are available from the Finance Office at the main Filton Avenue campus. Full time learners can buy ‘Bristol First Bus Student Tickets’, these give even greater discount. To buy these tickets, first you will need to apply for a ‘Student Photocard’. Simply complete the application form and take it, along with £10 and a passport size photo, to any one of the following:

  • Bristol Bus Station
  • Bath Bus Station
  • Travel Bristol Info centre, Colston Avenue
  • Filton College, (Finance office)
  • Or send to: The Passes Administrator, First Enterprise House, Easton Road, Bristol BS5 0DZ.

* The £10 photocard is only available to Full-Time Learners. If not a Full-Time Learner, we sell discounted Bristol First Bus tickets for 1 week, 4 weeks or 10 journeys.

Filton College also sell the ‘Smart Card’ for use on the UWE ULink Buses - these are £10 and can be topped up on the bus.

Trains

Bristol has two main stations, Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway. Both link up with the entire main railway network.
Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbeywood are the two local stations, each within a short walk from both our Filton Avenue and WISE Campus.

A Student Railcard may qualify you for reduced fares (up to a third on most travel). To get one you’ll need to provide:

  • Evidence of your age if you are 16 to 25 years old or
  • Proof that you are studying 15 hours per week if you are a mature learner.
  • Proof of full time enrolment
  • A passport-sized photograph

You will be charged a small fee for the Railcard. It lasts for 12 months and can be purchased from your local train station.
