Why choose the Bristol School of Art ?Students study with us for a wide variety of reasons - to enjoy working creatively with like-minded people, to pursue an interest to a high level, to prepare themselves for higher education, or work, or to seek the stimulation, determination and courage to change careers.We also have an expansive range of fully equipped specialist resources and courses staffed by area specialists. As well as our experienced permanent staff we have a wide range of visiting lecturers who have working contact with local and national art, design and photography employers. Our focus is fully on individual student development and we have an extremely high record of helping our students' progress to their next level of study. For those applying to Higher Education for BA Hons courses or BTEC HND courses our success rate is close to 100%. Many students progress from open access study or AVCE qualifications to degree level work within the Bristol School of Art. Therefore, an interest in drawing classes for mature students or an art and design course for 16+ might lead a student to follow our new HND programme in Fine Art or Graphic Design within the School. What is the Bristol School of Art?The Bristol School of Art is part of Filton College and offers a range of full and part-time training courses. The School has two centres - one at the Filton College main campus and the other within Bristol at Queens Road, Clifton.The Queens Road Centre is situated within the Royal West of England Academy. The building, completed in 1858, offers an imposing façade to the Victorian Rooms in Queens Road. An art school has existed here from that date. The Filton College Centre is based at the main campus on Filton Avenue and has access to all of the facilities enjoyed by students at this state-of-the-art campus, which is engaged in a £27.5million development programme. Who studies at the Bristol School of Art?We have a large number of both full and part time student of all ages studying at the School. The diverse range of students that attend complements the class and group mix. Both young and old are united in their desire to increase their knowledge of Art and Design. |
